INTELLECTUALS IN BATTLE

FAME AND OBLIVION OF TWO LITERARY FIGURES FROM THE BATTLE OF ANGHIARI TO THE SIEGE OF FAMAGUSTA

May 27, 2023 - September 17, 2023

The exhibition promoted and organized by the Municipality of Anghiari – Museum of the Battle of Anghiari is part of the "Terre degli Uffizi" project, conceived and realized by Le Gallerie degli Uffizi and Fondazione CR Firenze, as part of the respective Uffizi Diffusi and Piccoli Grandi Musei projects. An exhibition that narrates the deeds and works of Girolamo Magi and Federigo Nomi, two literary figures from Anghiari, respectively from the 16th and 17th centuries.

Two "intellectuals in battle", who may seem like minor figures to us today, but who contributed to shaping the cultural landscape of the 16th and 17th centuries.

Two characters so different and distant but united by similar destinies: tireless literary production followed by oblivion. This exhibition ideally aims to redeem their memory by highlighting their extraordinary work.
