The exhibition, promoted and organised by the Comune di Anghiari – Museo della Battaglia e di Anghiari, is part of the “Lands of the Uffizi” project devised and produced by the Gallerie degli Uffizi and the Fondazione CR Firenze in the context of their respective Uffizi Diffusi and Piccoli Grandi Musei schemes.
The exhibition tells the story of the deeds and works of Girolamo Magi and Federigo Nomi, two men of letters from Anghiari who lived in the 16th and 17th centuries respectively: two “embattled” thinkers who, though minor figures in our eyes, helped to shape the cultural panorama of the 16th and 17th centuries. Despite their many differences, they shared a similar fate consisting of an untiring literary output followed by obscurity. The exhibition sets out ideally to redeem the memory of these two men by shedding light on their remarkable lives and work.
